The National Security Council is considering tighter measures for the Zones of Special Operations (ZOSOs) in Denham Town, Kingston and Mount Salem in St. James. This emerged from Thursday’s monthly sitting of the Council which is chaired by Prime Minister Andrew Holness. A statement Friday afternoon from the Office of the Prime Minister said during a review of the two Zones of Special Operations, Mr. Holness noted concerns raised recently about violent incidents in Denham Town. While the security forces have sought to bring the situation under control, the Security Council has recommended an increase in the level of operational and administrative oversight in the areas. The Council also reviewed the progress of several pieces of legislation which will contribute to improvements in national security. These include the Jamaica Constabulary Force Act as well as amendments to the Firearms Act and the Bail Act.
